Steven Lawrence: Living With the Bunker

1994

The Lawrence family seeking justice for the son’s murder and Black community living under the threat of racist attacks in Greenwich. Living with the bunker is a Critical Eye documentary focusing on the impact of the BNP national headquarters in Greenwich on the local community. The film explores local perceptions of the rise of the far-right with particular reference to Black and Asian communities.

The film also focuses on the families of two young black men who were murdered in the area; Stephen Lawrence and Roland Adams, and assesses the impact on the lives of their families.

Greenwich now has the reputation as Britains race-hate murder capital, and this film is an attempt to assess the connection between the presence of the extreme right and racial attacks in the borough.
